Fast, Simple, Reliable Removal and Installation (Patent Pending)

Four fixed locators are installed into the factory t-slot rails. Once positioned, the canopy is removed and installed without any tools as quickly as four locator arms can be ratcheted down or released and removed. Removal is as simple as releasing the ratchet strap and removing the locator arm.

Once the clamps are removed most users can easily lift and carry the cover without help or lifting mechanisms.

Forced Air Injection with Geometric Water Separation (Patent Pending)

Many truck bed canopies have positive pressure vents. With these the pressure inside of the covered truck bed is completely reliant on the velocity of the vehicle. ETR canopies use an electrically powered blower to force air into the volume and maintain positive pressure independent of the velocity of the vehicle. The blower is solar powered and can run without using the vehicles electrical system, or can be plugged into the vehicles inverter ensuring constant positive pressure inside the volume.

The geometry of the intake path causes multiple changes in direction of the flow. If water is mixed in the air this change in direction causes the water to hit the walls and collect into larger droplets which gravity will eventually cause to fall and drain out of the intake system.

The intake assembly is easily removable for cleaning and maintenance.

Skin on Frame
(Patent Pending)

In order to reduce the weight of the canopy and still maintain stiffness, an integrated frame is attached under the outer "skin". Using the optimum placement of material in space is how ultralight weight structures are obtained.

Customize Your Color and Material

If the paint color exists it can be used. The exterior of the canopy is coated in high build low roughness bed liner and then clear coated. Many people choose to match the color of their vehicle but the options are endless. The interior of the canopy is high build medium roughness bed liner which can be any color as well.

The standard material for the sides of the canopy is 3k twill weave carbon fiber. Carbon fiber comes in many very unique patterns and stunning colors. If you can envision it we can likely make it.

Watch the Prototype in Action

Check out the prototype clamp removal and installation in this video. The clamp consists of 2 "arms" that telescopically assemble. The lower arm is fixed to the t-slot rail, and the upper arm is removable. On the upper arm there is an over molded polyurethane feature that contacts the carbon fiber preventing damage. Directly under the surface of the polyurethane is a stainless steel feature that provides the load bearing structure. The strap is made of aramid fibers and is extremely tough and cut resistant. The metal used is all stainless to prevent corrosion.

About Us

Engineering is at the core

Embrace the Ride was founded by a mechanical engineer with over a decade of experience in research, development, process improvement, and product design. Being a truck owner himself he wanted to purchase a canopy that he could easily remove and store when the open bed of the truck was needed. There were a lot of options on the market from very well established companies but they were all too heavy and time consuming to remove. Many of the canopies on the market are very stylish and tempting to buy based on aesthetics alone.

Instead of buying one he decided to design and build one for himself in his garage. Once the prototype was made he put it to use in his daily life and made modifications as needed. The forced air-water separator comes from one day rinsing the inside of the cover and bed and finding that the moisture was just not leaving the closed volume for days afterward. The locator arms come from first using a typical bolt on clamping system that required tools, manually adjusting and aligning the canopy, and uncomfortable wrenching in the truck bed to install and remove.

Most companies test their products to meet minimum requirements for the user but really just want to optimize profits. There is a constant push and pull between engineers and the people interested in profits. This company was started after the product was designed to be used by the owner with no intention of starting a business and is used everyday by the designer himself.

The goal of the company and the name are equivalent. Embrace the Ride and try to enjoy it, often the journey itself surpasses the destination. We enjoy designing, building, testing, and improving. It is a very long ride but we embrace it.
